Join Us in Building a Living Legacy
This work is visionary, grassroots, and powered by people like you. Every mile of the xTx is built through relationships, with neighbors helping neighbors and towns taking pride in their local heritage.
Long-distance trails do more than provide outdoor adventure; they revitalize rural communities, support small businesses, and offer a life-affirming way to experience the "beautifully badass" landscape of remote Texas.
The xTx Trail is a bold, multi-use trail system that spans 1,500 miles across the entire state of Texas—offering hikers, cyclists, equestrians, and rural communities a new way to connect with the land and each other.
Only two years old as an idea, we’re building this project one section, one Trailhead Town, one water station, and one land partnership at a time.
Your support makes this possible. As a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit, your donation directly fuels the creation of a trail as iconic as the state itself. Help us build a legacy that connects Texas for generations to come.
Our vision is gaining momentum with major new milestones:
Bandera Joins the xTx: We are thrilled to announce that Bandera, the "Cowboy Capital of the World," has been officially incorporated into the route following a dedicated grassroots effort. As our first official "Trailhead Town," Bandera serves as a prototype for the xTx, showcasing community-driven progress like new horse hitching rails and plans for a first-of-its-kind modern livery barn designed specifically for long-distance equestrian travelers.
New Executive Leadership: To guide this ambitious growth, the xTexas Trail Association has appointed Laura Wood as our Executive Director. With more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, Laura is dedicated to expanding the partnerships and resources that will bring this 1,500-mile trail to life.
