The xTexas Trail (xTx) is no longer just an idea — it’s becoming real. A continuous, route stretching across the state of Texas. We've linked together 1,500-miles of paved, gravel, and dirt roads, public trails, and state and national parks through some of Texas' most rugged and wild rural landscapes
We’re pulling together talent, skills, and resources to make this happen. And right now, you can be part of it by making a monthly contribution to the xTexas Trail Association.
What does it mean to be a Friend of the xTx?
Becoming a Friend of the xTx means you’re joining the most Texas “thang” happening in Texas right now.
Your monthly gift will power the fundamental infrastructure needed for hikers, cyclists, and equestrians. Together, we’ll make sure the trail reflects the heart of Texas and invites the world to experience it.
Tangible Impact at Every Level
$10/month → Keeps one (out of 100) 55gal drums full of water for one season.
$25/month → Keeps 3 (out of 100) 55gal drums full of water for one season.
$50/month → Supports travel to exploratory site visit with a landowner (one of hundreds).
$100/month → Supports a day-long, field assessment of one tenth of one mile of future trail. We have 1,500+ miles to cover!

Why Now?
We are actively laying the groundwork for what will become Texas’s next great legacy. The mountain biking and hiking scenes are growing. The communities are ready. And the xTx is rising.
Our tiny-but-mighty team is working around the clock to prepare for the Trail’s soft opening in January 2026, but that is just the beginning.
In the years to come, we will continue to improve the route, build water and shelter stops along the route, and give Texans a seat at the table to provide input on the future of the xTx.
