Why give to the xTexas Trail Project?
The mission of the xTexas Trail Project is to create a first of its kind 1,550-mile legacy trail across the state of Texas for hiking, biking, and horse riding for the public.
The draft route has been mapped. The trail begins at the Louisiana border at Quicksand Creek in the East and ends in El Paso in the West. We’ve designed the trail to meander through some of the most remote, rugged, and romantic parts of the state. The trail weaves together quiet back-country public roads, trails, community parks, state parks, national parks, and will eventually include access across public land.
The xTx is designed to be a seasonal trail to travel in late fall, winter, and early spring.
This is a big legacy project with many pieces that need to fit together to create a successful trail.
Your important financial support helps us in 3 crucial ways:
Supporting our team and volunteers to continue to ground-proof and develop the best possible route.
Building and testing water, shelter, and tech prototypes needed to make the xTx a viable trail.
Giving us the tools to share the story of the trail online and in person to build the understanding, partnerships and collaboration we need to make the trail a reality.
